Fairdeal Supplies as a corporate
responsible citizen has promoted generation of energy through
renewable source i.e., through wind. Electricity generated from
wind is non-polluting, noise free and does not emit any green
house gasses (GHG).
There is a large growing demand
in the country for Energy and any measure to reduce the dependence
of depleting fossil fuels is harbinger not only towards sustainable
development but also energy security. Wind power provides cost-effective
part of the solution to global warming.
Fairdeal has installed capacity
of 10.67 MW, out of which 9.92 MW is installed in Tamilnadu
and 750 Kwh in Gujarat. Power generated in Tamilnadu is sold
to the Board. The wind farm installed in Gujarat is for captive
consumption and has lead to substantial savings in energy cost
to the company.
Projects which generate energy
through renewable sources and help in reduction of GHG can be
registered for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) under Kyoto
Protocol. 9.92 MW Wind based power project is being registered
under CDM mechanism in United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 31st May 2007. First CERs (Carbon
Emission Reduction) will be ready by February 2008.
Fairdeal Supplies is
also planning to install upto 8 MW Windfarm during the year
2007-08 and locations for the Wind Energy Generators have been
identified at Karungulam in Tamilnadu and Chitradurg in Karnataka.
